A MESSAGE FROM SAN MATEO COUNTY DEMOCRATS

San Mateo County Democratic Party

Chair’s Letter

November 2019

Dear Democrats,

Welcome to November, the month of Thanksgiving and, well, giving thanks.

With all of the troubles in the world – the fires in Northern California and Southern California as the reality of climate change sets in, political instability in some the governments of or international allies, and the orange nightmare occupying the White House – it can sometimes be difficult to maintain a hopeful and positive attitude. I hope you are able to find some hope as we approach the end of the year.

Speaking of the terrible fires in Northern California, please join me in sending positive thoughts to those affected by the fires. The Democratic Party chairs of those northern counties tell us that the way to show support is through donations to the Redwood Empire Food Bank, which serves Sonoma, Humboldt, Del Norte, Mendocino and Lake Counties. If you’d like to donate, please click here.

And remember, THERE IS STILL TIME TO VOTE in this year’s November “off year” election! Join us in voting for our endorsed Democrats. You can find the list of our endorsed candidates at the top of our webpage: http://www.smcdems.org/.

Please read on for news you can use:

Teeing Up for 2020!

We had a very successful campaign and club treasurer training in partnership with the Santa Clara County Democratic Party and the Fair Political Practices Commission on financial best practices on Saturday, October 26th. We had almost 40 attendees and received a lot of positive feedback from many, including new folks now interested in getting involved with our Party! In partnership with the SCCDP, we hope to offer more free and low-cost campaign trainings throughout 2020, in addition to the return of the Dems Lead! Program.

Our committees are also hard at work getting set up for 2020, but we need your help!

  • Our voter registration team has been hard at work registering new and returning Democrats all across our county! If you are interested in getting involved with voter registration and on-the-ground voter action in 2020, please reach out to smcdemsvr@gmail.com to learn more.
  • If you are interested in being part of the 2nd cohort of Dems Lead!, our FREE SMCDEMS campaign and leadership program taught by experienced politicos and campaign staff, please reach out to me (Nicole) at chair@smcdems.org.
  • If you have an idea for a speaker to speak one of our General Meetings, please reach out to our Programs and Education co-chairs Francesca Segre at francesca.segre@gmail.com or Alex Melendrez at alexander.melendrez.140@gmail.com.

Provide Comment to the California Democratic Party on the ADEM Election Process!

Right now, the California Democratic Party is looking for feedback from delegates and other Democratic activists on the ADEM Election Process. Assembly Delegate Election Meetings (ADEM) are where activists elect individuals to represent their community on the Democratic State Central Committee.

Whether you have run for an ADEM position, voted in an ADEM election or volunteered at an ADEM election, the CDP wants your thoughts! Please submit feedback online at this link through December 1, 2019. Direct any questions to me, chair@smcdems.org.

Donate to CDP’s DEM2020 Program!

The California Democratic Party is gearing up for 2020 and needs your support. They recently started the DEM2020 program (Donate Every Month 2020), the funds of which will be used to support the party and our Blue Wave campaign to keep the Blue Wave going! If you are interested in enrolling in the DEM2020 Program, please click here.

I remain available if you have any feedback on our SMCDEMS. You can reach me at chair@smcdems.org.

Sincerely,
Nicole Fernandez
